95 Days Left of Jeb!

“For too long our nation has tracked library books better than it has sex offenders. That day is coming to an end,” said Foley.
“Senator Hatch and Leader Frist have been resolute in keeping this legislation on track. We are closing loopholes that sex offenders and pedophiles have used to prey on children.”

MARK FOLEY (R-FL) RESIGNS
9/29/2006
9/29/2006
The chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children said the Congressman Mark Foley submitted his resignation in a letter late this afternoon to Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.
Hours earlier, ABC News had read excerpts of instant messages provided by former male pages who said the congressman, under the AOL Instant Messenger screen name Maf54, made repeated references to sexual organs and acts.

Wouldn't it be a bitter pill for Foley to swallow to be registered under the very law he helped to create?
To Catch a Predator, 'er Mark Foley, R-FL
Well, hell, where was "To Catch a Predator?"
Because Mark Foley's little email consititutes a third degree felony in the State of Florida.
Just "talk", right? Mere words on a page.
Read these words.
Solicitation of a minor to commit Lewd and Lascivious.
Let this Floridian tell you what kind of man Mark Foley is.
Mark Foley was one of 12 Republican Congressmen who stood up under suspension of the rules and voted in the Adam Walsh Act, which "W" signed into law on the anniversary of the boy's death.
The AWA carries the harshest federal sentencing guidelines for persons convicted of sex related crimes, including Foley's little email, which can certainly be interpreted any way law enforcement chooses.
With the signing into law of the AWA, Prom Night now carries a 10 year mandatory minimum should an 18 year old high school senior cross a state line with his 17 year old girlfriend. Or vice versa, ladies.
That's how extreme (or anal) this country has become.
Whoops! I'm not certain I can type "anal" online anymore.
Our elected officials have every American parent bamboozled into thinking a sexual predator lurks on every neighborhood corner.
Many registered sex offenders have never had physical contact with anyone, much less a minor....period.
Many high-end professionals have had careers crash and burn because of mere words on a page.
Thanks to legislators like Foley.
Many, many people are now registered as sex offenders due to such "friendly" online chat or emails just like Foley wrote. No travel, just talk.
And speaking of anal....
Foley represents St. Lucie County, Florida, that sports a Sheriff department that earns a handsome trade through the old undercover Internet sting operation, chatting up and locking up those who thought "talk" was a protected constitutional right.
The 16 year old page might have called MSNBC'S Chris Hansen for tips on how to lure Foley into a meeting. Imagine that explanation?
Imagine how ironic.
Such a freakin' hypocrite. I just want to gag when a story like this slips by the media when if the same happened to John or Jane Doe, we would be stripping away their constitutional rights faster than you can say, "Pee Wee Herman."
What's that saying? Something about "those with most to hide shout the loudest?"
That's why we love to see guys like Foley fall from their self-inflated lofty heights.
Foley is up for reelection and my hopes are, this helps sink his battleship.
Parting words?
Vote Foley's ass out of his Congressional seat, Fl-16.
And follow the federal money trail associated with the establishment of the nation's offender registries.
It's the biggest witchhunt since McCarthy trashed those with "Communist sympathies."
Sixteen-Year-Old Who Worked as Capitol Hill Page Concerned About E-mail Exchange with Congressman

The Buzz Florida Politics
A Democratic congressional candidate is calling for an investigation of Rep. Mark Foley over an email exchange he had with a teen-age boy who had been a congressional page.
The boy forwarded excerpts from the emails to congressional staffers and said, “Maybe it is just me being paranoid, but seriously. This freaked me out.”
The boy, who is not being identified because of his age, told the St. Petersburg Times in an interview last November, when the Times first learned of the emails, that he cut off correspondence with Foley.
“I thought it was very inappropriate,” the boy told the Times. “After the one about the picture, I decided to stop emailing him back.”
Foley has had email exchanges with at least one other former page who told the Times he was surprised to get an email from a congressman. (9/28/06)

Foley, a Lake Worth native, has been one of the most outspoken supporters in the U.S. House of Representatives for restricting rights for convicted sex offenders. In July, he was a primary sponsor of a bill designed to better track sexual predators and toughen penalties for those who use the Internet to lure young victims.
By midday Thursday, the Foley story was the lead on ABCNews.com and was reported by numerous Web sites.
The Washington Post
Foley was familiar and friendly in his e-mails. In one, he wrote, "did you have fun at your conference" and "what stuff do you like to do." In another, he wrote, "Glad your home safe and sound" and "its nice here . . . been raining today." In a third, Foley referred to someone named Will and said, "hes such a nice guy . . . acts much older than his age . . . and hes in really great shape."
The Palm Beach Post
During his 12 years in Congress, Foley has championed legislation aimed at cracking down on sexual predators and Internet child pornographers. He sponsored legislation President Bush signed this summer that requires convicted sexual predators to register their whereabouts more frequently and to make that information more accessible to the public.
"Hey Nancy, isn't Mark Foley (R-16) one of they guys that helped you pass The Adam Walsh Act? This is a good lesson for you, darling...what goes around, comes around."

Why is it that when I write to a congressman, if I am lucky enough to receive any response at all, it's a form letter from a staff member in the congressmans office. The next time I write, I guess I will have to say I am 16 years old and have a cute tushy. Obviously, that's the winning formula.
I'd bet if Mark Foley were just some shlub from a Florida suburb, the anti-pedo crowd would be tearing him a new asshole.
I can't hear anyone today. The silence is deafening.
Hey Sunny. What would you like for your birthday? Here is my personal e mail address for your personal (and private) convenience. Would you please send me a picture of you?
If this sounds like I am "hitting" on you, geez I can't imagine why you'd think such a thing!
And Mark Foley thinks he can talk his way out of this one?
Between Charlie Crist and Mark Foley, now I know why the state of Florida is shaped the way it is. :)
